Abstract
The present article constitutes a description of the language used in Apicius ́s culinary recipes. The goal is to analyzethe ideational metafunction of language in a domain specific text, that is, the culinary domain, as Halliday andMatthiessen (2006) suggest. To characterize the culinary language, the specific register of recipes was establishedand the categories of figure and sequence that most appear were described.
