Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Articles must be unpublished and originals. These should not have been proposed simultaneously in other publications as well.
  • The articles –which should revolve around the historical or current events of the Central American region or of any of its particular societies– must be sent to the address of the Anuario (and its length cannot exceed 40 double-spaced pages, Times New Roman, size 12.
  • The following short works are also accepted (maximum ten pages): conferences, essays, reviews, documents, texts of historical or legal nature, agreements, declarations and interviews carried out for research purposes. All these works must be referred to the thematic areas of the magazine.
  • The notes must appear at the end of the article, numbered continuously, without using an automatic generator.
  • Bibliographic references should be included at the end of the article, as established in APA Style (7th edition). In this regard you can consult: Guía para la elaboración de citas y referencias bibliográficas
  • Articles must be accompanied by their summary, prepared in Spanish and translated in English (abstract), with a maximum length of 120 words, and five key words must be included, both in Spanish and English. Also, a translation of the title into the English language must be added. Articles written in English are accepted in certain cases (specialized dossiers).
  • The summaries will consist of several parts, according to the type of document that is sent. If it is an essay, it will include motivation, proposition or idea to be tested, development of the proposed points and conclusion. In the case of an article, it will incorporate objectives, methodology, research results and main conclusions. In the case of essays as well as articles, the abstracts will consist of a paragraph (no more than 120 words).
  • Articles with graphics, charts, maps and illustrations must include the reference and, if required, the reproduction permission of the author or the corresponding publisher.
  • The articles must include the following data of the author: nationality, titles or academic degrees and the center of higher education that granted them, positions currently occupied and the most important previously occupied, email and ORCID. These data will be included at the end of the article in a paragraph not exceeding 140 words.
