Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of the culture on the development of the small and medium companies (PYME’s, from now onwards). In Costa Rica, the companies falling within the classification of PYMES reach near 94%, and more of 70% of these are located in the central region (Ledesma, 2002). According to Ledesma, the statistics show that around 243,611 direct jobs are in relation to the sector, which represents near 20% of the economically active population (PEA, onwards). This is why we grant a great importance to the analysis of any elements that may explain its high mortality.
