The image used for the cover of this current issue is a detail taken from a poster prepared by the Chilean graphic designer Valeria Varas, who is based in Costa Rica. The poster was designed for the 3rd Anniversary of the Central American Association of Detained and Disappeared Relatives and the 4th annual Latin American Week of Disappeared Detainees. It was published in May 1985 in Costa Rica and includes slogans that resonate again in the 21st Century in the face of authoritarian repressions: ALIVE THEY TOOK THEM, ALIVE WE WANT THEM! UNTIL WE FIND THEM!
