Resumen
En este manuscrito se hace una revisión de cómo fue que llegamos a las prácticas actuales en la ética de la investigación científica, presentando algunos temas que son de interés especial para el científico de la actividad física y la salud. Se hace énfasis en dos áreas principales de la ética en la ciencia: primero se presentan los principios éticos para la investigación biomédica con seres humanos y se discuten utilizando como guía los tres principios básicos del Reporte Belmont (autonomía, beneficencia y justicia). Luego se comentan la presentación y la publicación ética de la información a manera de actualización o comentario extendido de los diez temas cubiertos por Roy Shephard en su manuscrito de 2002 La ética en la investigación en las ciencias del ejercicio. Finalmente se presenta una reflexión sobre la responsabilidad personal y su importancia en todas las dimensiones del quehacer científico: si bien es cierto que poner toda la responsabilidad sobre los hombros de aquellos científicos o médicos que trabajaban en investigación no fue suficiente para evitar todo tipo de abusos en la experimentación con humanos en la primera mitad del siglo veinte, el problema no está resuelto. Los engorrosos e intrincados procesos de revisión y aprobación externa generan la sensación de que el sistema debería ser más que suficiente para asegurar las buenas prácticas, pero esa percepción tiene el peligro de provocar que los científicos abdiquen inconscientemente a su responsabilidad personal.Citas
